Twenty Twenty

For many of us, the year 2020 appears to be the beginning of the end, bringing images from post-apocalyptic films, books, and stories to life. Video clips of the most populous cities across the globe locked down, natural disasters raging across continents, and scenes of fascism and police violence run viral across the internet and throughout humanities collective consciousness.

Although many of the works included in this exhibition were painted one or two years prior, they address the same issues we are finding ourselves in today as a species and planet. 

Futuristic, yet primitive scenes of men with gas masks, children in abandoned ruins, and human-like animals that may be mystical guides or victims of radioactive waste appear throughout Saucedo’s works.

It is unclear whether the world has completely fallen apart, or has simply begun a radical transformation.
