Maximilian Contemporary presents TRIO, a solo exhibition for Bay Area painter and sculptor, Peter Dreyfuss. The exhibition consists of twenty recent paintings by the artist, executed during quarantine and inspired by the abstract expressionist movement.

The theme of trios presents itself a number of times in this body of work. Most obviously trios can be seen in the six large horizontal paintings displayed in the back room. The imagery of each of these oil paintings emphasises three objects or figures.

The two large paintings in the front room are also clearly comprised of three sections, where the composition of each painting is distinctly separated into thirds via color and texture.

Overall, these paintings are a contemporary exploration of abstract expressionism. Subtly and without direct planning, the theme of trios began to present itself in the work.
